Kinja'd!!!

Haven't had any electricity to post about it until now.

The Maserati's got a pretty hefty dent in the roof, but that's the extent of the damage there. Very heroically, it took the brunt of the damage away from the MG so that's only got a slightly bent cross-bar on the soft-top.

Kinja'd!!! Kinja'd!!!

The Jag's had the same roof damage as the Mas, plus a door caved in, the bonnet caved in, various other dents all over the boot and wings and the stand supporting the engine has been knocked from underneath it so the engine's either resting on the bulkhead or the steering rack. This was it before we got to work.

Kinja'd!!!

The poor Fiat's copped it hard though. Good four boughs pinning it right down onto the ground. At least one dented door, a very dented rear wing, both A-pillar's crushed and the windscreen smashed.

Kinja'd!!!

The BMW, Porsche and Spitfire are completely untouched. As is the Alfa, the Peugeots and all the other cars we use to get out and about.

Kinja'd!!!

I spent a good part of Christmas day hacking away the smaller branches with this. Best 10,000 Bolivars I've ever spent (brought it back from Venezuela on an expedition I went on when I was 16), and me and my dad went at the bigger boughs with a chainsaw today.

Kinja'd!!!

The Maserati's free and so is the Jag now, but there's still a good 8-10 tonnes of tree sprawled across our car-park. Must have been a good 200 years old, and if it was as big as the other oaks next to it about 50-60 feet tall.

Holy shit! Glad you and most of your cars made it out ok. Hopefully the Jag and the Maserati will be fixable.

Not the memorable kind of Christmas Eve anyone wants. That really is too bad.

All uninsured, and not worth much anyway. Not in monetary terms anyway.

Was it a storm that dislodged the tree?

Yeah, I'm glad it happened at night and not while I was working on them. Not a chance I'd have survived intact.

The Mas looks pretty fixable. It'll be tricky, but all it really needs is a new sheet for the roof.

The Jag will be a lot more work. Dents all over. I'm currently weighing up whether to part it out and buy another one, fix it up to original specs or convert it into this:

Yeah, quite a bit shitty. Still, barbequed turkey really isn't too bad :)

Yeah, we had a big storm the night before Christmas eve. Knocked out power for a lot of houses in the South of England. My cousin's house is flooded a couple of feet as well, so it could be worse.

That's good news about the Mas, the Jag would be a big project for sure, I'd consider parting it out especially with all of the other cars you have to tinker with in your lot.

Ouch, really sorry to see/hear this, especially with the work you've put into the Jag.

Seems like you're in decent spirits given the circumstances, though, and glad to see the wheels already turning on where to go with the projects now!

sometimes the monetary terms don't count.

well best of luck with all the tree removal and the fixing. Wish I were closer I'd at least be good at helping remove some trees

Yeah, I'm thinking that. Still, it's not my Jag. The Jag I rescued from my uncle's back garden for £60.

I suppose I shouldn't be so sentimental. The trouble is I haven't got any cash for another. Spent it all on the Spitfire :S

Thanks man :) I've worked it out to about 4 years, £2000 and over 100 hours labour. Still, if it's not fixable then I can part it out and probably get enough to buy another. I'd probably even have the wheels and IRS left over for an MGB project as well.

If the Mas isn't saveable as well then I reckon I'll pull the 2.8l engine and LSD rear to put into an earlier SWB 222 or something like that. Still, would be good to fix as there was only a handful made in the first place.

The Fiat is either part it out and get another (I'm suitably impressed by the crash protection. Pinned by a 10-12 ton tree and still two amply person-sized holes in the interior), or just take the windscreen off and turn it into a speedster racer. Depends on the extent of the damage, and whether I've got too much work on my plate already.
